UPDATE: 3 dead, 4 injured after horrific crash near Olds

CALGARY- A horrific crash in southern Alberta has left three people dead, and four others fighting for their lives.

The collision happened on Highway 27, about four kilometers east of the town of Olds, just before 6 p.m. on Monday.

RCMP confirm an SUV and a minivan collided head-on, killing both drivers and a passenger in the van.

There were four other occupants in the van – all men in their mid-twenties. Two were airlifted to a Calgary hospital by STARS Air Ambulance; another was taken by ground ambulance. All three are said to be in critical condition. The fourth injured passenger was taken by ground ambulance to hospital in Olds in serious condition.

Emergency crews blocked off Highway 27 between Highway 2 and Highway 2A.
