CALGARY – Drivers are being warned to travel with care on highways around the city, as snowfall and cold temperatures contribute to dangerous driving conditions.
A large portion of southern Alberta is currently under a snowfall warning.
Environment issued cautions that mountain parks and areas east of the city will see 10 to 15 cm of snow as an arctic air mass moves through the province, but say the precipitation should taper off by Wednesday evening.
RCMP closed the southbound lanes of the QEII from Didsbury to Carstairs for several hours on Thursday due to a multi-vehicle collision which killed at least one person.
In addition, emergency crews were forced to close the westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway at the Minnewanka turnoff due to a serious crash.
