Motorcyclist killed after crashing into deer on Highway 2A

Global News

CALGARY – One man was killed in a motorcycle crash in the city’s deep southeast on Friday.

The victim was travelling northbound on Highway 2A (Macleod Trail) near 210th Avenue S.E. when he struck a deer.

Both the victim and the dear were killed in the collision, which happened around 5 a.m.

Police believe the motorcyclist was in the left-hand lane, and the deer came out from the ditch heading east across the road.

Officers have spoken with a witness, but say it’s too early to tell if speed was a factor.

Northbound Highway 2A was closed at 210th Avenue S.E. for several hours while police investigated.
